Las Vegas History

 In modern times, Las Vegas was originally settled by Mormons in the mid-nineteenth century who were attempting to protect the mail route between Los Angeles and Salt Lake City. However, because of hostile Native American raids on the settlement, the Mormons abandoned Las Vegas in 1858. It wasn't until nearly fifty years later during the boom of railroad construction that the tent city called Las Vegas formally sprang up.
In 1910, the state of Nevada instituted strict anti-gambling laws. But in Las Vegas, the gambling went underground quickly and never really stopped. During the Great Depression, probably out of economic necessity, Nevada legalized gambling once again, and Las Vegas slowly began to grow into the gambling "Disney World" that it is today.

The Vegas Strip

 In the 1940s, a few hotel/casinos were built alongside a dusty two-lane highway that went through Las Vegas. Famously, the gangster Bugsy Siegel was one of builders of the early casinos, the Flamingo Hotel. The building boom continued along the once-quiet highway, and today the Las Vegas strip is the brightest spot on the planet as seen from outer space.

Their elaborate costumes, singing and aerobic ability combine to create a truly enjoyable Las Vegas entertainment experience. Get Married

 Las Vegas is the wedding capital of the world. To get married, first go to the County Clerk's Office and apply for a marriage license. Both parties must have valid ID, such as a driver's license or passport. The cost is $55 per opposite-sex couple. The Las Vegas Wedding Bureau is open from 9AM-midnight seven days a week, including holidays. No blood test or waiting period is required. Once you have a marriage license, the wedding ceremony can be performed by any priest, minister, or Justice of the Peace authorized to perform weddings with in the Las Vegas area. Numerous wedding chapels are located around the Wedding Bureau and on the Strip. You can choose an elaborate theme wedding, such as an Elvis impersonator as officiant, or a simple ceremony and reception celebration.

 Most major hotels and Vegas Wedding Chapel offer wedding packages for those who wish to plan a larger wedding ceremony. But don't let a lack of planning stop your nuptials; all Vegas wedding chapels can perform immediate weddings with no prior appointment, although it is recommended to make a reservation for your wedding. If you make a reservation most chapels will provide courtesy limousine transportation from your hotel to the chapel and back. Lastly, making a reservation decreases the likelihood of having to wait. Remember your wedding is a special event and want the best regardless of how much you plan to spend. You can receive a quality service at very affordable prices in Las Vegas.
